A new era for Whammy Kiss Vintage
Welcome back to our shiny new website! Whether you are new around here or have been with us for a little while, I thought I’d kick start the brand spanking new blog post space with a little update…
We’re properly back, after the best part of a year navigating changes, and just being a bit side tracked to be honest.
I had such grand plans for 2024 - the year went off to an exciting start but then everything went, well…slightly tits up after!
Although WKV launched in 2020, it has always had to be a tiny side project I guess. As a freelancer it’s actually super difficult to know when you’ll have proper time to work on other projects. It’s not as easy as you hoped, to put time aside when you need to keep the money coming in, as well as having a chronic illness that also decided to make itself further present again during Spring. I found it hard to keep everything going to a standard I was happy with. My endometriosis flare left me with zero energy or motivation to be pushing myself constantly, let alone be any way present online. Something had to take a back seat, and sadly that had to be the shop.
Anyway, not to be a complete downer - we still made it out to trade at the Classic Car Boot events in Kings Cross, which is always a fun weekend. Our favourite ever boots that we sourced, and later ended up selling to none other than the late Terry de Havilland’s wife, Liz, went on display in the Icons of British Fashion exhibition at Blenheim Palace, which was amazing to see (will actually dedicate a whole post to that!) We spent a lot of time sourcing too, which is of course my favourite part of having a vintage business. I also managed to squeeze in a fun test shoot with some pals which was just what I needed.
Whilst the website was temporarily down, I attempted to sell on Depop briefly during the summer (hated it, deleted it!) Truthfully, I just missed having a little space online to have everything in one place. I had also finally revamped and updated my styling website, which gave me the kick up the arse I needed to start up over here again, bite the bullet and make a new and improved website. I had always planned for the website to have a little blog section. Somewhere to share updates, highlights, inspiration and general ramblings. A right little vintage hub really. I had also accumulated so much lovely stock for the winter season, it needed to be out there.
I had been reflecting a lot on where I want the direction of WKV to go. Combining my styling background and experience with my love of vintage is something I’ll really be pushing my focus on in the new year for sure. You may have noticed some new services have been added, in which I’ll go into more detail very soon…
So here we have it! The last few weeks have been spent working night and day revamping Whammy Kiss Vintage, because why wait until the new year to make changes…
… and a big thanks to anyone that has made a purchase from us this year, or engaged with us in any way. Hope you like the new direction!
